Michael Phelps

Hello everyone, or no one at all!

I spent much of this weekend watching the Olympics. I have been staying up all night just waiting to see Michael Phelps win his gold medals on live TV. I wait, and wait, and wait, then eventually it will be time for his race. Now, mind you, I am watching other sports, or preliminary races. I am also enjoying the diving very much. I also have been editing a video of the photos of my recent trip to Mexico, so the time isn't spent just waiting for Michael Phelps. The time flies by, then I realize how late (or early in the morning) I have stayed up once his races are completed. It is sometimes 5 am when I have been getting to bed. We need the Olympics on this side of the globe! I guess, then it would happen while I'm at work.

I am going to share a link to a website that I find interesting each day. Today I found http://www.modernquilts.com/ which is an interesting site. I love modern decor, and would love to add one of her quilts to my collection. I especially like the one entitled ABSURDITÉ.
Very whimsical and fun, and green is good!

Wow! May of '06 was the last time I posted here. It's funny how time gets away from you!

I would like to begin to blog on a regular basis. I'm not sure of my intention right now, but that may be firmed up as I go along.

  • I'd like to focus on quilting again, but my passion has waned in the past couple of years. I can honestly say I've done nothing in over a year. That is so sad to me. This might be a way I can "make" myself do some things, until it becomes part of my routine again. I feel like I haven't had any decent therapy in a long time, and I am in desperate need.
  • I'd also like to pair my passion for fiber arts with the Word of God, including some morsel I have learned each time I come here.
  • Of course, family, work, and life are entwined into everything I do, so of course this will be a diary of sorts.
So I'll begin with an update.

Tampico, Mexico

Kevin, Taryn, and I recently went on a mission trip to Tampico, Mexico. We helped to facilitate a VBS. There were 160 kids in attendance, and at least 60 people from the church volunteered to help. It was amazing, exhausting, and uplifting! We are ready to do it again, only next year, we want to do a 5 day VBS. Let's go all out and do it right!

Kevin and I have been there once before, so we already knew many of the people that we worked with this year. We met more people and continued to build relationships. Our family has been so blessed by the loving heart of the people in Tampico. Their mission is to love, and they do a magnificent job.

This year we rented a 15 passenger van, that became a "Wild Ride" once in Poncho's hands. I'm working on a video to share. We were a hop, skip and a jump away from the church if we took the highway, but Poncho always took us the more direct way, through the hills and curvy streets of the city. He loved to hear the girls let out a scream, and then giggle with delight as the roller coaster crested each hilltop.

Isaac and Zoe have met Poncho via our new webcam. What a thrill, that they can see and talk to someone so far away. It would be nice if Papa and Nuni had a webcam! But I digress!

We visited some of the homes in Tampico and met some beautiful people. They are working hard for the Lord there in the city. One of the ladies we met feeds the people who are waiting outside of the hospital every week. It is a great ministry, and people's lives are being changed. We participated in that ministry last year.

I am amazed when we all sing together. They belt out the songs in Spanish, while we sing a slightly different version with English lyrics. It is like a little glimpse of heaven, where we will all be praising one God together!
